At 1984 dunk contest Wilkins was robbed because he deserved not only to be in finals but to win it all. So in 1985 he was hungry for dunk title. Darrell Griffith was and still is the shortest player (6-3) who dunked from the free throw line. His jumping abilities were spectacular. Julius Erving also made his signature free throw line dunk but Jordan made more attractive one. Terence Stansbury made sensational dunk as he took off from one foot and did 360 spin dunk. He also did spectacular behind the back jam at full speed. Best dunk of the semifinals was Air Jordans rock the craddle imitation. He made 180 spin and dunked rock the craddle with so much grace and finesse.

Jordan and Wilkins advanced to the finals. Dominique continuded his arsenal of power dunks. Jordan made only one good dunk and Wilkins easily won the title. But the story of the night was Michael Jordan. Wearing red Nike Air Jordan I shoes and gold chain he had shown unbeleivable jumping abilities combined with tremendous body control. Wilkins was much more explosive but Jordan had more finesse. He was more like an balerina than tipical dunker. Suddenly Dr.J became too old and Air Jordan became new hero.
